California is leading the country (and some international rankings) on being a model for a clean energy future. Part of this model is implementing new policies and standards surrounding zero emission vehicles.

Organizations, governments, and residents of this big, beautiful globe have stated celebrating ‘earth month’ as an outgrowth of today, Earth Day! Growing concern for a changing planet and passion to raise awareness drive the efforts of our clean energy industry.

We always enjoy when we can tie one learning bundle to another; it creates bundles of bundles, and heck if that isn’t fun to say! Last month we dove into the rise of smart meters and why the transition to digital data mattered to energy efficiency and end users. This month let’s start unpacking ways to take advantage of these devices.

What makes a meter smart or even advanced? Is it the ability to provided detailed data on energy usage in real time or is it enhanced reliability? Or is it the behavior change coming from an increased customer awareness? Maybe ‘all of the above’?

Weeks into 2021 many of us remain diligently working from home--where we spent most of 2020. So, obviously we must continue our “Work from Home Learning Bundles” into the new year!

As we say goodbye to the most interesting of years, we want to thank you all--sincerely--for staying present and engaged with us throughout it all. We launched our WFH Learning Bundles in a knee-jerk reaction to not being able to connect with our partners in person.

The elderly gentleman strode to the podium and stared out to the eager young faces. He was prickly and gruff, a stark contrast to the audience. In a deep baritone, he began, “I am here to talk to you about the most important thing in energy efficiency, something that all too often gets overlooked. I’m here to talk to you about caulk. That’s C-A-U-L-K! Get your minds out of the gutter you animals!”

At the SJVCEO we’re spending a lot of time questioning what is at the intersection of energy efficiency and essential services. Where do public agencies put their focus and how can we change the thought that it must be a choice between the two? Investment in essential services and energy efficiency are not mutually exclusive, and improved building efficiency is often foundational for the systems needed to improve indoor air quality, leading to safer spaces for public use in an emergency.

National Energy Efficiency Day’s message is simple: “Save Money. Cut Pollution. Create Jobs.” Since the inaugural Energy Efficiency Day in 2016, this annual awareness event has been supported by hundreds of prominent organizations, companies, government agencies and others. The goal is to share tips, tools and stories that promote the multiple benefits of energy efficiency, from lower costs to healthier homes

And we are BACK with more WFH Learning Bundles! It is more important now than ever that we recognize September as “National Preparedness Month.” Wildfires, climate disasters, and a public health crisis make it clear that we need to emphasize the importance of preparation today.
